What to Expect: Typical Service Times
- System refrigerant recovery and contamination assessment: 30 to 45 minutes
- Condenser and line flush: 1 to 2 hours
- Expansion device replacement: 30 to 60 minutes
- New compressor installation: 3 to 5 hours depending on vehicle
- System vacuum and recharge: 45 to 90 minutes
How Our Technicians Approach an AC System Flush
When a compressor failure is confirmed and a replacement is planned, we begin by recovering all refrigerant and assessing the contamination level. We note whether the oil is black and contains metal particles, which confirms the contamination and guides the extent of flushing required.
We remove the condenser and flush it using an approved flushing solvent, blowing it clear and confirming the solvent runs clean before reassembly. We flush the high-side and low-side refrigerant lines using the same process, working from the compressor end toward the evaporator.
We replace the expansion device and all o-rings at every opened connection. We install the new compressor with the correct oil charge for the system. We pull a deep vacuum for a minimum of 30 minutes, confirm the vacuum holds, and recharge to the manufacturer-specified weight.
We perform a post-charge vent temperature test to confirm the new compressor is operating within its designed cooling capacity before returning the vehicle.
