California requires most gasoline vehicles 1976 and newer and diesel vehicles 1998 and newer to pass a smog inspection every two years for registration renewal. Vehicles eight model years old or newer are exempt from testing but pay a smog abatement fee instead. If you have received a renewal notice or need a smog certificate for a vehicle sale, we handle it quickly so you can take care of your DMV requirements without the hassle. Most smog inspections take 15 to 30 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome and we work to get you in and out quickly.
If your check engine light is on, have it diagnosed before scheduling your smog inspection — an active check engine light is an automatic smog failure in California regardless of your vehicle’s actual emissions output. Not sure your vehicle is ready to test? A smog readiness check confirms your OBD-II monitors have completed their drive cycles so you arrive ready to pass. If you have already received a failed smog certificate, we diagnose and perform the emissions repairs needed to get you back in compliance.
