How Our Technicians Approach Hose Inspection and Replacement
When performing a cooling system hose inspection, we begin with a visual examination of every hose in the system, noting any visible surface cracking, staining at connections, or deformation. We then flex and squeeze each hose to assess its firmness and resilience, paying particular attention to the areas near the connection fittings where hoses most commonly develop problems.
We document any hoses that are soft and near collapse, hard and near cracking, or that show staining at the connections. We present these findings with a recommendation that distinguishes between hoses that require immediate replacement and hoses that are approaching the end of their service life and should be planned for replacement.
When hose replacement is performed, we drain the system to the level required, remove the old hose and clamps, inspect the fitting surfaces for corrosion or damage, and install the new hose with new clamps tightened to the correct specification. We refill and bleed the system and perform a pressure test to confirm the new connections are sealed.
