What to Expect: Typical Service Times
- Short circuit location: 1 to 3 hours depending on circuit complexity
- Connector cleaning or replacement: 30 to 90 minutes per connector location
- Wire splice and repair: 30 to 60 minutes per splice depending on access
- Ground connection service: 30 to 60 minutes per ground point
How Our Technicians Approach Wiring and Connector Repair
When a wiring or connector fault is suspected, we pull the vehicle-specific wiring diagram for the affected circuit and map the complete path from the power supply through every connector, splice, and ground point to the component. This gives us a test sequence rather than a guessing sequence.
For fuse failures, we use an automotive circuit tester with the fuse installed to identify which load on that circuit is creating the excessive current draw. We power the circuit with a current-limited power supply when the fuse blows immediately, which keeps the circuit active long enough to locate the short point without damaging the test equipment.
For connector faults, we inspect the connector under magnification and use a multimeter to measure pin contact resistance and confirm correct voltage at each pin position. We replace damaged pins using the manufacturer’s terminal service kit rather than generic connectors that may not seal correctly. Our 2 ASE certified technicians have experience tracing wiring faults and performing quality electrical repairs across domestic and import vehicles.
