How Our Technicians Approach Brake Caliper Service
When a sticking caliper is suspected, we inspect the caliper slide pins and piston on the affected corner. We remove the slide pins and evaluate their movement and surface condition. We attempt to compress the caliper piston and note whether it retracts freely or with significant resistance.
When slide pins are serviceable but need cleaning and lubrication, we perform that service and reassemble. When the piston is seized, we recommend caliper replacement rather than attempting to service a piston that is corroded beyond its serviceable range.
After replacement, we inspect the rotor for warping caused by the uneven heating from the previous sticking caliper. We bleed the brake circuit at the replaced caliper to remove any air introduced during the replacement.
