What to Expect: Typical Service Times
- Comprehensive brake inspection with all four wheels: 45 to 60 minutes
- Written inspection report with all measurements: included with every inspection
How Our Technicians Approach a Comprehensive Brake Inspection
When a vehicle comes in for a brake inspection, we begin with a road test to experience the symptom directly. We listen for squeal or grind, feel for pedal quality and pull, and note any pulsation under different braking conditions before the vehicle goes on the lift.
With all four wheels removed, we measure brake pad thickness at the inner and outer pad of each wheel position and document every measurement. We measure rotor thickness and compare it to the rotor-specific minimum thickness specification. We inspect each rotor surface for scoring and heat patterns.
We inspect each caliper’s slide pin movement and check each caliper piston for drag. We inspect brake lines and hoses, paying particular attention to the sections near the wheel where rubber hoses connect to steel lines. We inspect all brake hardware.
We then compile all measurements and observations into a complete written finding report and present it clearly before making any recommendation.
