How Our Technicians Approach Heater Core Service
When a heater core problem is suspected, we begin by confirming the symptom category. For a suspected leak, we look for the specific combination of sweet smell, interior fogging, and wet carpet. For a suspected restriction, we measure heater core flow by comparing inlet and outlet hose temperatures.
For a confirmed restriction without leak evidence, we attempt a back-flush before recommending replacement, since the back-flush is a straightforward procedure and avoiding heater core replacement saves significant labor cost.
For a confirmed leak, we explain the replacement procedure in full, including the dashboard disassembly required, the approximate labor hours involved, and the components that can be inspected and serviced while the housing is open, before the customer authorizes any work.
Our 2 ASE certified technicians have experience with heater core replacement across a range of domestic and import vehicles and know the dashboard disassembly procedure specific to your make and model. We schedule heater core replacements appropriately for the labor involved and work efficiently to minimize time in the shop.
